I know a thing or two about online gaming. Not too technical, but enough to have a general idea of what's happening. Hopefully this article will deter people from even trying.There are three main types of games. I'll be talking about mobile games specifically but this applies to all platforms too. There are local stored games, server stored games, and client/server games where information is stored both on the server and your device.For multiplayer games, only two of the types exist for the most part. Server and client/server. That means some games can be cheated and some can't.

Here's why.On client/server games certain information is stored on your device. That means when your device puts it into memory so that your processor can actually play the game you could essentially, through hacking, have access to and manipulate this information that your device is responsible for. The server does it's thing, your device does it's thing, everything is supposed to be peachy, but some people are hacking that client-side storage and/or memory related to the game. On server only games like most multiplayer games where very little is stored on your device, that cannot be done.That's it for the how and why people can cheat Dawn of Titans. Now I'm going to move on to what is and what might be getting people banned.When you adjust the client storage and/or memory values, you alter the game.

You go 'out of sync' so to speak. If you don't know what you are hacking, you can crash the game. People who are caught 'out of sync' by the resyncing protocol I believe are being investigated and terminated.Also, although client/server multiplayer games are very vulnerable and always will be until they front the cost of shifting to server-side only, there are a few tricks that can be done to catch cheaters in the act.After some research due to my frustrations, I've learned about a trick that I believe most client-server games use. It's a neat little coding strategy that sets a player up to tell on themselves.

Devs code in non-game related snippets into the client files with the same values hackers are searching for to manipulate their game client-side. Attempts to change this code sends a message to the server and badabing, you've caught the hacker stumbling around. I don't know if I've explained that right but you should get the idea.

People might be flagging themselves.Finally, I want to touch on the people who are trying to mimic realism while hacking. What I mean is, people who aren't giving themselves 9,999,999 gems but instead might be changing a mission related value to provide 1m gold and 1m grain and maybe even a little extra XP for the titan. These players can quickly spend the evidence and seem legit.

Eventually they will be resynced while their values are changed and they will be investigated and eradicated from the game.However, the clever ones do a little here and there and the real clever ones probably play legit until a resync and then hurry up and do a mission with the altered data values, reap the rewards, and quickly reset the values.So what can Dawn of Titans do? The answer is obvious. Go server-side only.As hackers are banned left and right, an ever vigilant 'community watch' carries on. Both the beta players in Europe and the up-and-coming global release players from around the world are reporting suspicious accounts.That is great, but it's not enough.Dawn of Titans is an exploitable client/server game that will never be rid of cheaters unless they upgrade their servers and go totally server-side. Very informative. Just a question, but if you know someone is hacking, is there something you can do to report them?

Is there any way way people can legitely get maxed out Manfred and Avalos ( recently released) this fast? There's a guy on our server who has those titans maxed, AND has only one skill unlocked on each, which is very suspicious to say the least ( also has a bunch of other maxed out 4. titans with barely any skill unlocked).

I'm in the Phoenix training alliance Born and I get to see a lot of really cool 'upper level' content from them on our Line chat groups. These guys have a slew of titan at high levels that they call 'fusion material' and whenever new titans come out a good portion of them can just fuse a couple level 10+ titans of increasing rarity to unlock the skills and see what they are.By the time they get about 3 skills unlocked they may or may not take it all the way to 50. They'll post screenshots and say good or bad things about it and then decide what to do with it. If it's trash, well, it just becomes another reason why the next 4. will get to 50 so fast.As for the level 50 titan with no skills unlocked, that's probably a hacker.
